[i]ros360 posting in [i]travel_photos: Melikhovo and Surroundings in Lime-Blossom, Moscow Region, Russia

I made up my mind yesterday to go to Melikhovo I had planned long ago. It’s unbelievable, Chekhhov used to be my favorite writer in college period and it is only now when I find time for it! No need to turn on GPS, Simferopol highway has signs to Melikhovo and the latter to the museum.

[i]lunarius posting in [i]student_travel: west coast question

hello!

i am soon embarking on a pretty improvisational trip up the West coast that will begin in San Diego, and ultimately end in Seattle.

i was wondering if anybody could recommend the cheapest way to travel from San Diego to San Francisco, as well as San Francisco to Portland.

i've been looking at airplane and train tickets, and so far haven't found any major difference between the two, but perhaps somebody has more insight into this than i.

thanks in advance :]

[i]a1cmustangpilot posting in [i]foreignlanguage: I need some help with my French

Basically I am in need of a French beta to help me with something that I have written in French. I took French in highschool and despite trying to keep up with the language, I've found that I'm not as good as I used to be. So tonight I wrote a 100 word drabble for a community but before I post it, I need to make sure that it is correct!

One word that I do not know is "raptor" as in "velociraptor" or something equivilant to it. I don't wish to keep using "dinosaure" every time I mention the creatures. Any help would be great! Please and thank you!

[i]webeh posting in [i]student_travel: Hostel Lockers

Hi guys/gals,

I have a few questions about the lockers in hostels:

1. Are there lockers in the twin bedrooms? If not, would you recommend locking the bags in the locker or in the room?

2. Would the basic high school Dudley lock be secure enough for a locker?

3. Not locker-relate, but what is your opinion about those wire meshes for backpacks? Are they more a hassle than a help?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I'll be leaving for Western Europe in about a 1.5 weeks and as you can probably tell, my security-related anxieties are starting to kick in. It's weird how I'm more worried about losing my stuff than getting lost. ;)

[i]freakofboston posting in [i]teafortwo: Goji Berries

I first stumbled upon the deliciousness that is the Goji berry through Snapple's Goji berry juice. I wish could begin to describe the flavor, but I'm still trying to figure it out myself. Now I have discovered that Yogi tea makes a green tea with Goji berry in it. If you are a berry fan, or simply looking for something unique, I highly recommend. It's not very strong tea, but the Goji berry adds a potent flavor to it. And if anyone knows of a loose leaf tea with Goji berry in it, I'd love to hear about it!

[i]sheisaeval posting in [i]ljtravel: Bali itinerary

So I'll be going to Bali in less than 2 weeks, and here's my itinerary.

Anything I've missed that is a must do or must see?
What are some must try Bali foods? And also, here's a weird question, what are some unusual or "weird" Balinese foods out there? For example, Filipino Balut and Chinese, well, chicken feet and bugs and random animal parts.

my itinerary under the cut )

I tried the avoid the Kuta area, we're not into parties or nightlife, we would rather experience natural scenery and local culture rather than loud clubs and bars.

If this is not allowed here, I'm really sorry. Please feel free to delete, mods (and I promise I'll never do it again)! =)

[i]littlestlaura posting in [i]student_travel: (no subject)

Hi Guys,

I'm thinking of heading down to Chicago at the end of the month for just a few days - I'm looking for somewhere cheapish to stay, preferably close to the Aragon Entertainment Center - somewhere where its not super sketchy to sleep, I have a secure place for my stuff..thats all I really need, transit in the area is nice too - especially if the hotel is far from the center

Thanks!

[i]alienghic: Life Lessons from the Next Decade

Life Lessons from the Next Decade

I really need to watch that, Bruce Sterling describes the tone of the next decade, mocks hair-shirt environmentalism, and then offers some practical advice on how relating to stuff differently.

Also I thought it was funny.

The story of Steve Jobs being the Gothic Man in the Castle, was pretty amusing.
